How should I display the licence number on my boat?
You must display the licence number on both sides of the bow
in block characters not less than 7.5 centimetres (3 inches) high and
in a colour that contrasts with the background colour.

These 3” high letters usually work out to a licence length of 20-22” depending on typeface.

It is helpful to know the space that is available if the usual size isn’t going to fit or look right.

Snowmobile Registration Numbers

You may use custom numbers so long as you follow Ministry of Transport Rules:
Using Custom Numbers on Your Sled in Ontario
• Custom numbers must be attached or painted on both sides of the cowling not less than 10 centimetres or more than 15 centimetres from the rear of the cowling.
• They must be between 5 and 7.6 centimetres (2” and 3”) or more and have a stroke width between 5 and 13 millimetres (1/4” to 1/2”).
• They must be a colour that contrasts with the background.
• The validation sticker must be placed on the left side between the registration numbers and the back of the cowling. Validation stickers issued after June 1, 1997 must be affixed in the centre of a white background that forms a border of at least one centimetre in width around the sticker.
